Friday Favorites: A Vegas Babymoon

I’m linking up with Shay, Erika, Andrea & Narci again this Friday Saturday for Friday Favorites!

Friday Favorites

This past weekend (Thursday – Monday) my hubby and I flew off to Vegas for a “Babymoon” getaway before this new baby girl arrives. We got married in Vegas about two and a half years ago ❤️ We just love Vegas, and we aren’t big gamblers –  a rare case of people who go to Vegas for R&R!IMG_5709

The morning we left, my mom came over to watch Ashton for the long weekend.  Seriously, there is NOTHING like having family close by to help out.  She is priceless, and I am so thankful & blessed to have such an amazing, helpful mom.

We headed to the airport, got all checked in and got some Starbucks (of course).  I hadn’t even looked at my ticket, but when we boarded my husband surprised me with first class!  He is so wonderful ❤  We had some delays, and I may have bombarded the airline with tweets about not wanting to miss any of our time in Vegas.  After some close calls and running through the DFW airport, we made our connection and arrived in Vegas only a little late.  Phew!

We stayed at the Marriott Grande Chateau, and it was really nice.  It is a non-gaming hotel, but walking distance to the strip (right across the street from Planet Hollywood).  It is nice to not be bombarded by people gambling and smoking in the morning when you go down to the lobby Starbucks 🙂  The room was really nice- a suite with a full kitchen, living room, washer/dryer, etc.  It was great that it was so nice, because my husband ended up not feeling well for most of the trip, so we spent a lot of time just relaxing in the room.  Because he didn’t feel well, I don’t have as many pictures as I had planned on taking.  I am REALLY going to try and take more pics to document things.

After getting situated in the room, we headed out to get something to eat.  The time difference the first day was difficult, especially since we got up so early to fly out.  But it worked in our favor for dinner as we were sitting down to eat around 5pm (we sound like blue hairs in Florida getting the early bird special) 😉

We ate at Masa at the Aria which is part of the Mandarin Oriental.  We have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental before, and it is really beautiful.  The food was smaller plate Japanese cuisine, so we tried a few things.  EVERYTHING was so yummy!  We both had the miso soup to start, and it was so good that when we got home I got stuff to make miso.  Mine is just not the same.  Womp, womp, womp.

After eating, we walked around the hotel/casino for a while and finally retired back to our room early when we couldn’t stay awake any longer.  And then we slept and slept and slept… Oh glorious sleep!  I jolted awake at the normal time I wake up with Ashton, but after a while I fell back into dreamland and got more sleep than I have gotten in a LONG time!

The BUCKEYES played the next morning, so we watched that game and then headed to my favorite- The Wynn!  We went to lunch at the Terrace Point Cafe where the food never disappoints.  I started with an amazing green juice (I want one right now) and then my entree came with the most delicious truffle fries.  They balance each other out, right? 😉

We walked around the mall after (the Fashion Show mall there is incredible).  After that we went back to relax at the hotel because we had to stay up late for the show we had tickets to that night.

And then there was the show… THE BEST!  We saw the “Aces of Comedy” show with Ray Romano and Kevin James.  They. Are. Hilarious.  But there were two surprises:

1.  My hubby surprised me with FRONT ROW SEATS!  Awesome!IMG_5684

2.  They had a surprise guest at the end:  Adam Sandler!

The whole thing was just incredible.  Even better?  At the end of the show they did a Q&A and when asked what each of their favorite roles have been, Ray Romano said his role right now on Parenthood.

The rest of the trip was mostly lounging and relaxing.  The Rock & Roll marathon was the next day, so there were a  lot of road closures.  We walked around some, watched some of the runners finish and napped.  My hubby was still not feeling great, so it was good to rest a bunch before the travel day home.

The next day we headed home to 3+ inches of snow… And with that, the vacation was over, boohoo!  It was so nice to get away just the two of us.  (But we sure did miss our little munchkin)IMG_5671
